Arrival Cusco we will meet you at the Cusco airport for a ride to the Hanaq Pacha Retreat Center (HPRC). On route we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant and have a guided tour of the Sacsayhuaman Fortress (Sacred ceremonial ruin site overlooking Cusco). The ride takes about 1.5-hours going from Cusco through several small villages to the town of Calca. HPRC to settle in, adjust to the mountain altitude (about 9000 feet elevation). Evening Yoga. Overnight HPRC (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Market day at the Pisac market: Indians come from the surrounding valley to sell their wares. For those who wish a short hike to the Pisac Ruins (rated easy, about 90-minutes each way). Pisac ruins: a mountaintop complex of overlooks and a main temple area. It is known for its small, polished stones that fit perfectly together. In the main ruins, which are reached by a two-hour, uphill hike, you will find temples of the sun, moon, rain, rainbow, and stars, as well as a few Inca crosses rising from the ground. The cross represents the different levels of existence: The lower level signifies the underworld, and snake god; the higher level, human existence, represented by the jaguar or puma god; and the highest level, the celestial plane, represented by the condor. Afternoon return to HPRC. Evening yoga followed by our Shaman, Kucho, will visit for an evening of Inca spiritual teaching. Overnight HPRC (B,L,D)
Yoga and exploration. Surrounding HPRC are garden areas, organic gardens, and short trails leading to the nearby waterfall. Optional Massage and herbal baths. Overnight HPRC (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Morning ride to Ollantaytambo. Guided tour of the Ollantaytambo Fortress. The sprawling Incan temple complex at Ollantaytambo towers over the small town from the surrounding mountains. You'll explore the ruins and get spectacular views across the town and the valley beyond.
Afternoon train to Aguas Calientes (town located below Machu Picchu).Overnight Hotel in Aguas Calientes (B,L)
Lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge next to Machu Picchu and time on your own to leisurely explore. Afternoon Vistadome train return to Ollantaytambo and transfer to HPRC. Overnight HPRC (B,L,D)
Or, for those who wish, afternoon to visit the Casa de Milagros orphanage. Overnight HPRC (B,L,D)
